ABOUT CLIENT
Cyber Inc. specializes in privacy and security awareness training, including video storytelling, phishing simulations, elearning and serious gaming.
The Challenge
Build a scalable multi-tenant LMS from scratch for security awareness training
Cyber Inc. had deep expertise and high-quality training content, but no platform to deliver it to customers.
Off-the-shelf LMS solutions didn’t fit. Moodle couldn’t support the level of scalability, security, and multi-tenancy that Cyber Inc. needed. They were looking for a custom LMS that would become the company’s core product and main revenue driver.
After researching existing solutions and comparing risks, Cyber Inc. and Academy Smart teamed up to build a fully custom platform from the ground up.

THE PROCESS
How we built an LMS in 5 months and helped cut costs by 68%
We partnered with Cyber Inc. to turn their training expertise into a full-scale product. Instead of adapting an existing LMS that would limit functionality and increase costs with every new user, we built a custom solution from scratch.
We researched to validate the custom LMS
We assessed Cyber Inc.’s goals and analyzed existing LMS platforms, like Moodle or IOMAD. It was clear that an off-the-shelf solution would limit the product long term, so we aligned on building the LMS from scratch.

Building a multi-tenant architecture for scale
The platform was planned to be scaled, so we designed the LMS around multi-tenancy from day one. Global, tenant, and company contexts ensured strict data isolation, flexible branding, and independent configurations for every customer.

We developed SCORM and HTML5 learning engine
We developed a custom SCORM and HTML5 learning engine, along with advanced user roles and assignment management. This ensured the platform worked seamlessly for learners, managers, and admins within the same system.

Integrations with SAML 2.0, Microsoft Graph & Power BI
We integrated SAML 2.0 for secure authentication, Microsoft Graph for automated user and role management, and Power BI for enterprise-level reporting and analytics.

We released within 5 months and kept scaling
Within 5 months, the LMS was successfully released. But that wasn’t the end: we continued expanding the platform with automated certifications, gamification features, multi-level reporting, and scheduled email reports for managers.

Since the first release, we’ve delivered 300+ functional updates and invested over 8,000 development hours to continuously improve the platform, helping Cyber Inc. increase security awareness.
